Be inspired by lyrical lines and lively colors, and paint out of feeling for form and color. Work should develop from vague sketches, and explore the emotions of an experience and a place. Painting must enter a spiritual or imaginative exploration into the world of archetypes and achieve a synthesized relationship of parts. Explore landscape as a voice of nature’s expression, a force with its own destiny, vitality and perhaps even at odds with humankind. Nature in Vermont is raw; it can be cruel, or beautiful and delicate. Use the forces of nature as your own.
Working with wood and clay is more physical, and requires a vigor and finesse. Capturing a likeness is fascinating, and while antiquated, it will further train the eye and refine the hand.
